Closet Organ Launch Party

Last night a bunch of you lovely people came down to the 13th Note for our album launch party. In many ways, it was a sort of homecoming: returning to one of the first venues we ever played in Glasgow, to a crowd including folk who we met around ten years ago whilst making music, with support from a band from the same era – the fantastic Ex Wives. To paraphrase what one person said:

It’s like a 2006 reunion in here. Ten years on, having had varying degrees of musical success, it all comes back to the Note.

For us though, it felt like a new beginning. Rather than going back to square one, it felt like the launching of a new journey; as if we’ve finally become the band that we always should have been.

Now that the smoke has cleared and chunks of guitar have stopped flying; through the haze of the hangover all that is left is a profound and genuine feeling of humble appreciation for everybody who supported us – either through throwing cold, hard-earned cash at our Kickstarter, giving us lifts to and from various venues, buying the album, or turning up at the gig last night – so thank you. As for the rest of you… you’re dead to us.

To say thanks, if you use the code ‘organfailure’ during checkout at http://closetorgan.bandcamp.com, you’ll get 25% off of any order of the album for the next 24 hours.

Thanks to Jeffels for the pictures!

We’re making an album!

Well, we did it.

Thanks to you lovely people, we smashed through our goal of £400, meaning that we are definitely recording a full length album, and releasing it on vinyl and cassette. On top of that, we also passed the £750 stretch goal, with a total of £776, which means that we will also be putting together an exclusive EP for those who backed the project.

The songs are (mostly) written, and we are heading off to a cottage in the middle of nowhere next week with bottles of Goldschlager and apple loops to bluff our way through the recording process.

Watch this space.

Closet Organ Rises (again)

It’s been four years since we last did anything as a band, and after many drunken conversations, have decided it’s finally time to start making music together again.

This time around, we’re aiming to write and record as much music as possible – rather than just going back over older tracks forever. The idea was to come up with a new name, but we really couldn’t decide on anything better. Naming bands is a pain. This way, we get to keep our Twitter followers from before (all 62 of them).

Stephen, Keith and Haigie are all still involved, with Haigie joining the band upon his return to Scotland from the French ski slopes. In addition, we now have Lee joining us on second guitar.

Yesterday we headed into the studio to record three new tracks, which are in the process of being finished. Soon, all of back catalogue will be available online in the one place for the first time (some is already up here), but until then, here’s a track from 2012 that we never released at the time: Das Ist Der Hammer. Not for the easily offended.
