The Vinyl has Landed!

It’s been a bit of a wait, but the vinyl copies of 5318008 have finally arrived, and is ready to thrust into your open arms. Of little consolation now that we have President Trump and Brexit to look forward to, but there we go. Buy them up before your currency becomes totally worthless.

They come in a nice shocking red colour, with some high-quality black polylined sleeve things. They are ‘limited’ to 100 copies, and you can get yours over on our Bandcamp, or from Cow Tongue Taco Records. There are still a few tapes left as well if that’s more your bag.

Enjoy Closet Organ as we were meant to be enjoyed. Or, something.

Closet Organ Launch Party

Last night a bunch of you lovely people came down to the 13th Note for our album launch party. In many ways, it was a sort of homecoming: returning to one of the first venues we ever played in Glasgow, to a crowd including folk who we met around ten years ago whilst making music, with support from a band from the same era – the fantastic Ex Wives. To paraphrase what one person said:

It’s like a 2006 reunion in here. Ten years on, having had varying degrees of musical success, it all comes back to the Note.

For us though, it felt like a new beginning. Rather than going back to square one, it felt like the launching of a new journey; as if we’ve finally become the band that we always should have been.

Now that the smoke has cleared and chunks of guitar have stopped flying; through the haze of the hangover all that is left is a profound and genuine feeling of humble appreciation for everybody who supported us – either through throwing cold, hard-earned cash at our Kickstarter, giving us lifts to and from various venues, buying the album, or turning up at the gig last night – so thank you. As for the rest of you… you’re dead to us.

To say thanks, if you use the code ‘organfailure’ during checkout at, you’ll get 25% off of any order of the album for the next 24 hours.

Closet Organ - 5318008

Closet Organ - 5318008

The day you have all been waiting for has finally arrived: the release of our debut album! Thanks to everybody who backed the project and made it happen.

5318008 is available on digital download (£10), download + cassette tape (£12.50), or download and vinyl LP which will ship in November (£17). You can get all of this on Bandcamp. It will be up on Spotify soon, but due to a backlog this won’t be for another couple of weeks.

If you are going to be in Glasgow next Saturday (the 1st of October), we have an album launch party in the 13th Note with the fabulous Ex Wives – heading out after that somewhere or other. Fiver on the door.

New video! Make America Great Again

We have been so moved and inspired by Donald Trump’s (inevitable) rise to power in the United States that we thought it only fitting to pay tribute to the walrus man by releasing our first music video in 8 years. It is with pride and (misguided) patriotism that we give to you… Make America Great Again.

To ensure that our message meets the right audience… the people who will really appreciate what we are doing, we have set up a targetted advertising campaign on Facebook. I’m sure these demographics will respond well:

We have (seriously) already receive a lot of support from Trump followers on Twitter and Reddit. They understand what we are trying to say.

If you like it, do feel free to share. That would be lovely. You can pre-order the album from our Bandcamp here.

For now, we’ll leave you now with some pictures from the recording. #buildthatwall

Stretch Goal! Back, and get an exclusive EP.

We’ve blasted through our crowdfunding target to get the new album recorded and out on limited vinyl release, which is awesome. If you’ve already got a pre-order in, thank you!

There are 16 days left to run in the pre-order, and even though we’ve hit our target, every order that comes in helps cover the studio hire costs, which are one of the biggest expenses. This ain’t no profit game.

As a result of that, we’ve decided to offer a ‘stretch goal’. What the hell is that, I hear you say? It means that if we hit £750, every backer will also get an exclusive digital EP of unreleased material – potentially including songs from the archives, alternative versions of new songs, and ‘live’ stuff.

Interested? We still have a bunch of cassettes left, unlimited digital pre-orders, and of course you can always make your mark on the world by naming the entire album…

Check it out at the Kickstarter page. In the meantime, we are hard at work in the studio finishing the tracks that will be on the album. Here’s a short clip:

Album update!

Thanks to you lovely people, we smashed through our funding target for the album, meaning we will definitely be recording later on in the year and releasing a vinyl – which is pretty exciting. We also got highlighted by Kickstarter as a project they love – whatever that means.

Screen Shot 2016-05-23 at 13.02.32.png

There is still 25 days to go until the pre-order period ends though, and we have a bunch of stuff left to sell. As well as the digital copies for a tenner, there are 17 limited edition cassettes left, and just one vinyl – so this is your last chance to grab one before they disappear. If you want to name the album, get your face tattooed on Lee, or split the band up – those options are also still available too.

Get your copy here.

Love, the Organ. x

Kickstarter Spam (and our responses)

We are over halfway towards our total of £400 required to help fund the recording and release of ‘Pished & Fabulous’. There’s 39 days to go, which means hopefully things will go well. Haven’t checked it out yet? Pre-order the album here. Already pre-ordered? We love you.

One of the things that nobody told us about doing a Kickstarter was the amount of shiite you get in the inbox as a result. People begging you to listen to their expert advice, or to pay them to tweet your project to millions of disinterested followers.

Rather than ignore them, we decided to reply personally to each one.

Firstly, here’s a monster-sized message from one ‘Harry Cotgrove’ (too long to screenshot):

Hi there,

I hope you’re well, cool project!

I launched my first Kickstarter project in 2016 for my innovative pet product. However, I struggled to get exposure and traffic to my campaign page. I was inundated with emails from PR agencies promising all sorts of things. I spent alot of time and money on these methods in my desperate state to get my project funded. Some never replied, some returned little solid results and all were ineffective for the amount of money I spent. I turned to marketing via email to gain exposure for my project and as a result I sent out many, many emails.

As a result of this, over the following two day’s I was on a radio show, featured in three local newspapers and two national newspaper’s in the UK including The Daily Mail (see it below). My Kickstarter traffic shot up and backers flooded in. I realised I didn’t need an expensive PR agency i just needed crucial contacts in important places.

Since then, I have spent weeks compiling an up to date list of important journalists with national and international newspapers, influential bloggers, the top twenty Pintrest users and websites to submit new products to. All of these can propel your crowdfunding project to the masses and gain you massive exposure. (I wish i had these lists at the start of my campaign!) Simply write a press release (I can help you with this) and send this out to all the contacts, if you have a sensible goal you will realistically only need 2 or 3 out of the hundreds of contacts to feature you for your traffic and backers to shoot up!

I’m sharing these lists with you starting at just £10/$14 – for 100 email addresses on my website ( and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you every success with your project!

Many Thanks,

Harry Cotgrove

Sadly nobody has responded to any of our messages yet. How are they meant to expect to do successful business when they don’t reply?! At least this way their idiocy will be immortalised forever in Google search.

Paul is Dead on Spotify

The single from our upcoming albumPaul is Dead – is now available to stream on Spotify, along with remixes from unexpected bowtie and Dewaud.

Check it out here, and if you like it, think about pre-ordering a copy of the album via Kickstarter. We’re over a third of the way to making it happen thanks to you fine folk.

Pre-Order Our New Album

Yesterday we launched a project on Kickstarter to help us fund the recording of a new album, tentatively titled ‘Pished & Fabulous’.

The bunch of us have been making music together in different guises for years, yet we have never recorded a full-length album together. When we decided to rekindle Closet Organ, this was something we wanted to change. Being able to look back at something in years to come, and go ‘we did that’ is the aim.

Rather than just do a digital-only release that would be quickly forgotten, we wanted to do something a bit more interesting… so, we are. The idea is that there will be a bunch of handmade, limited edition cassette tapes of the release, and an even more limited edition short-run of 12″ vinyl LPs (about 15 total).

The cost of vinyl production – even in small runs – is so high that it would be impossible without getting some sort of idea of the interest up front. So, we’ve opted to go down the same route as other indie bands and raise the funds through pre-orders. We’re already at £81, which is almost a quarter of the way – which is pretty awesome.

If you’re interested in pre-ordering, naming some of the tracks/album, or just want to see wtf is going on, check the Kickstarter page out here. We know that plenty of you hate us deeply, so there’s even an option to kill the band for a donation of £4,000 or above.
